SHERYL SMAIL Independent Chair – An experienced director on a number of companies and entities including, but not limited to, Beetham Village & Beetham Healthcare, Alzheimers NZ, the Eastern Institute of Technology, and Tairāwhiti Polytechnic. She brings years of both corporate and local governance experience as well as expertise in business development and effective executive leadership.
PANAPA EHAU Executive Director – A co-owner in a number of Māori land blocks in the ancestral estate of Te Papa Tipu o Uepohatu. With more than two decades of business experience in housing development, environmental services and social enterprise, Panapa is focused on developing sustainable inter-generational economic pathways that utilise and enhance local natural resources. Panapa established a sustainable horticulture course through Eastern Institute of Technology focused on developing the skill base of families in the Ruatorea area and currently serves on the boards of Rua Bioscience and Te Papa Tipu o Uepohatu Charitable Trust.
MATEAWA KEELAN Executive Director & General Manager – A shareholder in land blocks in between Waipiro and Te Araroa, for the past 15 years Mateawa has managed a farming business and with her partner also runs a local transport company. Mateawa is passionate about creating new economic and social opportunities for whānau on the coast and brings her experience in farming and local enterprise onto the board table.
ELIZABETH NGARIMU Non-executive Director – A trustee for a dozen Māori land blocks and board member of Te Raa Limited, a local company developing manuka and kanuka products. Elizabeth brings experience from her involvement in Māori land as well as local Matauranga Māori onto the board table.
HUNAARA WAEREHU Independent Director – A passionate rangatahi with a focus on local economic development, corporate finance, and governance. Immersed from a young age in Te Ao Māori with a fierce loyalty to his tribe, Ngāti Porou, Hunaara brings a fresh and young perspective onto the board table. Hunaara also serves on the Whakaoratia te Mana o Waiapu Project board, and is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Commerce (Majors in Finance and Accounting) at the University of Auckland.
